What can we do to simplify/improve work incentives for young people?
How can we raise expectations about the level of work and earnings that is possible for youth with disabilities, and how can we raise those for ALL stakeholders, not just youth and families, but schools, VR agencies, and others?
Describe the ideal relationship for youth and their families with the school, provider agencies, and other support systems that builds a culture of work and financial independence for youth with disabilities. How young should the kids be when the system starts coordinating? How can we better idnetify kids receiving benefits so they receive appropriate supports?
How can parents and families be educated and encouraged along with kids about the risks and rewards of working and earning enough to go off benefits?
What would make the risk of losing a benefit check worthwhile for a young person who could potentially be self-sufficient for life?
