i AM WORKING WITH A DEAF ADULT WHO WENT TO DEAF'BLIND STATE SCHOOL. HE WAS TAUGHT ASL (AM SIGN LANG) BUT NEVER TAUGHT TO READ AND WRITE IN ENGLISH. IEP Acceptance Signatures

It should be mandatory that a parent or caregiver needs to sign their agreement/disagreement with an IEP and it's implementation along with an accountability of what each team member will be providing. Soft skills

Targeting soft skills teaching only at HS level is counter-productive. Shouldn't these be targeted right from the start -- pre-school and elementary?? There are different "levels" of soft skills and a student's needs may change -- as will interests and preferences. So modify the soft skills through all levels.

Transition planning jargon

We need to cut out the jargon and use "plain speak" to ensure that students who participate in their IEPs can have a real opportunity to wrap their minds around what is happening. It is also less intimidating for most parents. Plain speak would not, of course, include all the acronyms that we fling around either!
