The National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) collects data on children up to 17 years of age. Since this survey shows that prevalence increases with age, it is important to know what happens to young adults aged 18-30 years. Young adults are a particularly vulnerable segment, and it is critical to know what happens to them as they venture out on their own. Some of the issuese that beg to be addressed include incidence and prevalence; health status; health care transition; health care access and quality; self-management; quality of life and economic impact.
