Education

pre-VR training

I believe that many youth with disabilities do not have the independent living skills needed to be successful in tranisitioning to post-secondary education or work. I would like to see a program specifically developed to teach transition age youth skills in daily living, community travel, technology, and communication offered to every transition youth. They would need to demonstrate certain competencies before they would be placed into the VR program for training, higher education, or work. Being trained to live independently in the community-at-large will result in more capable applicants. This is of particular importance to those who are blind or visually impaired.
