Discretionary Funding for College Transition Programs

Colleges and Universities that sponsor or would like to sponsor a transition program for incoming or perspective students with disabilities to their campuses could benefit from applying for discretionary grants that promote universal design. Ideally these programs would include other students without disabilities to reflect the microcosim of higher education and marketing material that invited participation of students with disabilities in an effort to include all students into campus life. Potential criteria for funding could include implementation of universal design model, ratio of students with disabilities to students without disabiliites and program assessment plan which should include student retention plan post transition program.
